WKCTC scholarship deadline is
March 1
The scholarship deadline is fast
approaching for West Kentucky Community and Technical
College. The application is completely online and must
be completed by March 1, 2012.

March 2 for 'Teen of the Week'
Nominations
for the
Paducah Sun’s
Teen of the Week feature item are being taken now
through March 2. To be considered, seniors must submit a
resume to Leslee Davis with school and community
activities, awards/accomplishments, employment,
education/career goals, and a teacher letter of
recommendation.
Davis will
nominate students based on resumes received. For more

Students invited to attend
Engineering Days on UK's Lexington, Paducah campuses on Feb. 25
Students from Ballard County's elementary, middle and high schools
are invited to attend Engineering Day activities on both the Lexington and
Paducah campuses of the University of Kentucky's College of Engineering.
In Paducah, the event will be held
from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 4810 Alben Barkley Drive.
Throughout the day, several contests will take place to
help build an understanding of what engineers do.
Favorites include the egg drop, popsicle stick bridge
and edible car competitions. 4-H Agent at Large for
Science, Engineering and Technology Torey Earle said
some events required prior preparation, while others
could be prepared during the day.

there also would be facility tours, demonstrations and

In Lexington, the open house will be
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST. A drawing will be held for a
$4,000 scholarship for a qualified high school student.
There will be more than 20 contests with prizes,
giveaways, engineering demonstrations, hands-on
experiments, guided lab tours and industry
representatives and displays.

Additional scholarships and awards
Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program - Deadline
June 15, 2012. Award is available to all juniors and
seniors. Students will submit an essay
on the topic that appears on the scholarship page of the
web site linked in the title. Award is for up to $1,000.
AgriBusiness Association of Kentucky - Deadline
June 1, 2012.
Applicant must be majoring in an agriculture-related
field; must be enrolling in a college, university,
vocational or technical college. He or she must complete
this application, and three required essays.
Additional requirements may be found by clicking the
title link. Award is for $500 each for up to two
semesters.
Foundation for Rural Service - Deadline March 1.
Applicant must be
a member/customer of Ballard Telephone (landline, DSL or
TV). Other stipulations apply; please see application
for details. Application must have signature from
the manager/CEO of Ballard Telephone before submitting.
Kentucky Farm Bureau - Deadline Feb. 28. Applicant
must be the child of a KFB member. Other stipulations
apply; see application for details.
National
Propane Gas Foundation:
Deadline March 15. The recipient must be the dependent
child of an employee of a member of the Kentucky Propane
Gas Association, must have a GPA of at least 2.6; and
must be enrolling as a full-time student in a college,
university, vocational or technical school. Additional
stipulations may be found on the web page linked above.
Students also may apply at the same site for the Thomas
B. "Tommy" Bright Memorial Scholarship (one application
applies for both scholarships).
Regions Bank Riding Forward - Deadline Feb. 29.
Twenty-five $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to high
school seniors in Regions' Bank areas who will attend
college this year. Applicants must write a 500-word
essay about an African American, past or present, who

University of Kentucky student athletic trainer
scholarship - Deadline Feb. 3. Applicant must must
have a 2.5 or better cumulative GPA and may be
interested in becoming a student athletic trainer at the
University of Kentucky. Scholarships are
available if a student completes one year in the program
and are awarded based on a student's performance in the
athletic training room and the classroom.

All testing is done in the BMHS
cafeteria. Students should be here no later than 7:30
a.m. and plan to stay until 11:30a.m.-12 p.m. Dates are
