BCES names new principal BCES names new principal
The Ballard County Elementary School site-based decision-making council has named Stephanie M. Wood as its successful candidate for principal.

Wood has been assistant principal at Lone Oak Intermediate School since 2015, and has served as the school’s curriculum specialist since 2014. She began her career as a special education teacher at Reidland Elementary School in 1996, and also taught second, third and fourth grade regular classrooms in her tenure there until 2014.

Wood was offered and accepted the job on May 5; her first full year on the job officially will begin on July 1, 2017.  

Adult Education now offering GED classes at Barlow City Library, and Tuesday evening at Adult Ed office
Ballard County Adult Education now is offering GED classes at the Barlow City Library on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. The library is located in the City Hall Annex (old City Hall), behind the City Hall building at 139 N. Fourth St., Barlow.

Leaders of the Month announced for August Leaders of the Month announced for August
At the beginning of each month, teachers will focus on a particular leadership characteristic and identify students who have displayed that trait exceptionally well during the previous month. On the last day of each month, the students are recognized at an assembly.  
Breakfast, lunch at all schools again free under CEP program
For the third year, students at all Ballard County schools will be eligible to eat breakfast and lunch for free. Morning and midday meals for all Ballard County Schools students again will be free in 2016-17, under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision, according to Ballard Food Service Director Amber Hayes.

The Future Problem Solvers team at Ballard County Elementary School won fourth place at regional Governor’s Cup competition on March 12.

Ballard County Elementary School has announced its Students of the Month for March. Students are selected by their teachers as good examples of the positive attitude, behavior and effort that is expected of everyone at BCES.
