Second-grade family night celebrates Dr. Seuss’ birthday
Members of 42 families attended second-grade family night on March 2 at Ballard County Elementary School, celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday. In the first photo are Rylee Lehmann and her dad, Daniel. 
Community members help celebrate Read Across America Day at BCES
Several members of the community visited Ballard County Elementary School on March 2 to read to students in every kindergarten through second-grade classroom. The day celebrates the birthday of children’s author Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. Six from BCES qualify for regional Governor’s Cup competition
Six Ballard County Elementary School students qualified for regional competition at the Feb. 28 district Governor’s Cup meet.  
February Students of the Month announced
Ballard County Elementary School has announced its Students of the Month for February. Students are selected by their teachers as good examples of the positive attitude, behavior and effort that is expected of everyone at BCES.  
Myers wins BCES spelling bee, qualifies for state
Isabella Myers (far right) won her second school-wide spelling bee at Ballard County Elementary School on Jan 29. She now is qualified to compete in the state spelling bee, to be held later in Louisville. 
Meinschein wins retired teachers' essay contest
Ballard County Elementary School fifth-grader Zeke Meinschein is shown here with a certificate from AARP for his winning entry in the “AARP Kentucky Grandparent of the Year” essay contest. The contest is co-sponsored by the Kentucky Retired Teachers’ Association.
