Ballard County Preschool/Head Start will hold spring registration for new students on Friday, Feb. 23, March 2 and March 9 for children who are or will be 3 or 4 years old by Aug. 1, 2018.

All registrations are by appointment only, and will be held in the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church, 421 Broadway, LaCenter. Appointments may be made from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Parents/Guardians are asked to please call 270-665-8400, ext. 2100, to schedule an appointment; children will be given their developmental screenings while adults are completing the registration packet.

 
Ballard County Adult Education now is offering GED classes at the Barlow City Library on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. The library is located in the City Hall Annex (old City Hall), behind the City Hall building at 139 N. Fourth St., Barlow. [...click for more]

The start and end times for morning and afternoon sessions at Ballard County Preschool-Head Start are changing this year, beginning on Aug. 22. Morning preschool will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at noon. Afternoon preschool will begin at noon and end at 3:30 p.m.

Breakfast will be served at 8:40 a.m. Morning session lunches will begin at 11:15, 11:20 and 11:25 a.m.; afternoon session lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m.
 

For the third year, students at all Ballard County schools will be eligible to eat breakfast and lunch for free. Morning and midday meals for all Ballard County Schools students again will be free in 2016-17, under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision, according to Ballard Food Service Director Amber Hayes.
