Sheffer named new principal at BCES
The Site-Based Decision-Making Council at Ballard County Elementary School has named Chris Sheffer its successful candidate to be the school’s principal, effective July 1.

The Ballard County native had been assistant principal Morgan Elementary School since 2011, including work as a positive behavior coach there. Sheffer was principal at Carlisle County Middle School from 2009-11, and a teacher, athletic director, interventionist and tutor at Ballard County Middle School from 2002-09. He also was a teacher at BCES from 2001-02.

“My vision for BCES is that every student receives the best instruction possible and performs at his or her highest level,” Sheffer said. “I want all of our students to have pride in being part of this school and this community, and to leave here prepared for success at the next level.”

Sheffer holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and his teacher certificate in science and language arts (grades 5-8), and a master’s degree and Rank 1 certification in school administration, all from Murray State University. He is a 1989 graduate of Ballard Memorial High School.

“It’s my pleasure to welcome Chris Sheffer back into Ballard County Schools,” said Ballard Superintendent Casey Allen. “Chris brings experience from administrative roles outside our district, but he knows our community, our kids, and most importantly, our needs.”

Sheffer resides in Paducah, with his wife, Julie, and their children. He is a Boy Scout leader, and member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church, and has served as a volunteer missionary multiple times.
