Ballard County Schools gets state grant to add Family Resource Center director
Ballard County Schools was one of only about two dozen district in the state that successfully met the guidelines to apply for a state grant funding another Family Resources Center director. The current director, Kelly Wray, will stay on at Ballard County Elementary School. The new person will start on Jan. 1, 2019, and will serve Ballard County Middle and Ballard Memorial High schools.

“The state saw we had a need,” said Bob Wilson, Ballard’s director of pupil personnel. “Kelly has done a great job for all of our almost 1,300 students for a number of years. This will roughly split the number of students in half, with about 600 in the middle and high schools, and about the same number in the elementary.”

Livingston County was the only other Purchase Area district to receive a similar grant, he said.

Applications for the new position will be accepted through Friday, Nov. 16. The successful applicant should meet these minimum requirements:

-          -Hold a bachelor’s degree.

-          -Establish and maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with others

-          -Maintain student and family confidentiality.

-          -Adapt to a variety of situations and be flexible when necessary.

-          -Have excellent oral and written communications skills.

-          -Work independently with minimal supervision.

-          -Meet schedules and timelines; prioritize daily work.

-          -Maintain financial and other records and prepare monthly reports.
