District, local churches, partner on transition plan for feeding children
Ballard County Schools made its last meal deliveries of the 2019-20 year on May 7. In the 39 days since March 17, the district delivered 89,970 meals to children in Ballard County. The district summer feeding program will begin on May 29 (more information on that program will be available later in the month).mso-add-space:auto;text-indent:.25in'>With many Kentuckians just beginning to go back to work, the district is partnering with several local churches on a three-week transition plan so families are not left in the lurch. On May 9, 16, and 23 members and pastors from several local churches will be at two locations, cooking free lunches for children ages 18 and under. They will be in the Wickliffe City Park and Celebration Plaza in LaCenter (across Broadway from Greg’s Supermarket) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Families are asked to leave Greg’s parking lot and the parking spots on Broadway in front of the store open for regular shoppers.

mso-add-space:auto;text-indent:.25in'>Families also will have a chance to register for the summer feeding program on those days. This year, instead of doing deliveries, BCS will partner with church locations around the county, and families will pick up meals at those locations.
