Shown from left (back row) are JMI-Wickliffe Superintendent Roger Shaw, soon-to-be pilot Johnny Riggs, foreman Clayton Vaughn, foreman Larry Miller, Ballard County Schools Superintendent Casey Allen, (front row) Family Focus Director Kelly Wray and Debbie Graham, assistant general manager of JMI’s Paducah River Fuel Service. This is the third year James Marine-Wickliffe has donated to the program.
For the third year in a row, the Wickliffe employees and owners of James Marine Inc. have made a sizeable donation to the Christmas assistance program of Ballard County’s Family Focus Family Resource and Youth Service Center. A group of employees brought a check for $2,500 on Nov. 17.
Roger Shaw, superintendent at JMI-Wickliffe, estimated that 85-90 percent of the business’ 80 or so employees donate to Family Focus through the company’s payroll deduction plan. JMI owners Jeff and Ronnie James also make sure the company adds to the total, not only here, but other places: JMI has over 950 total employees, and assists 10 different schools at Christmas.
“We’re proud of our employees, and thankful to James Marine for what they do to put smiles on kids’ faces,” Shaw said.
Debbie Graham, assistant general manager of JMI’s Paducah River Fuel Service, said the program began years ago with small groups of employees helping a few individuals for the holidays, and how has grown to this.
Family Focus Director Kelly Wray said she was grateful for the help. “This will help us serve 300 kids for Christmas,” she said.
