Family Focus again offering workshops, Christmas assistance program
Family Focus has been helping families with Christmas expenses for several years, and wants to continue the program. Here is an outline of the guidelines for this holiday season:

To be eligible for the program:

-          The family must qualify for free lunches by Household Income Form (HIF).

-          The family cannot be receiving assistance from any other Christmas program.

-          The children must be enrolled in Ballard County Schools.

For children who are too young for school, parents must bring proof of Medicaid or SNAP benefits from Ballard County DCBS.

A parent or guardian must attend two of the following workshops in order to be eligible for our Christmas assistance, OR have attended Bomber Bash plus one workshop, OR Bomber-Palooza at the Ballard County Middle School plus one workshop. ALL WORKSHOPS WILL BE HELD AT THE OLD PRESCHOOL BUILDING AT 455 OLIVE ST., LACENTER. Workshops are as follows:

Tuesday, Nov. 13, 6 p.m.: Kentucky State Police, drug trends

Friday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m.: Andrea Hagerty, social services

Participants do not have to sign up in advance or RSVP for a workshop – just come.

Parents who attend the required workshops will receive a gift card to Kohl’s for each child and will select items from the toys donated to Family Focus. This will allow parents to shop for their children and pick out their individual gifts.

To sponsor a child or family, please send Kohl’s gift cards, toys or cash donations to Family Focus, P.O. Box 434, LaCenter, Ky., 42056.
