Ballard Memorial High School's baseball team will have a new head coach this spring. Cameron Gudgell said he expected to have his new players working out by mid-January.
comes to Ballard after a two-year stint as freshman coach at F.J. Reitz High
School in Evansville, Ind., where his team won the Southern Indiana Athletic
Conference tournament last year. He’s also coached American Legion Post 31 (four
years). Gudgell is originally from the Paducah area, and played baseball at
Heath and McCracken County High schools, as well as college baseball in
southern Illinois and Indiana.

positive. “I am lucky to have been around great coaches in my career, like
Scott Matlock at Heath and Geno Miller at McCracken,” he said. “They taught me
that baseball is an essential part of life, and it teaches you lots of life

earned his bachelor’s degree in history at Oakland City (Ind.) University in
2018, and currently is pursuing his master’s in the same subject.
