Ballard County Schools is changing from a 14-day to a 10-day quarantine for exposed but asymptomatic students, effective immediately. This change is in accordance with current CDC guidelines.
Exposed students will quarantine for 10 full days from their last exposure to a positive case. For example, if a person was exposed on Feb. 15, the full quarantine would run until Feb. 25. If the exposed person has no symptoms during that time, he/she could return to school on Feb. 26. No testing is necessary.
“We considered three very important factors before making the change,” said Bob Wilson, Ballard’s director of pupil personnel. “There is a decreased incidence rate both locally and regionally; 48 percent of our staff have been vaccinated; and after consultation, our local health department supported the change.”
