Kentucky residents now may apply for relief for rent and/or utilities back as far as April 2020, as part of the state’s new eviction relief fund. The intention is to keep Kentucky renters housed, allow landlords to get substantial payment of back rent, and reduce the volume of eviction cases.
Eligible applicants must have at least one household member who qualified for unemployment benefits, or who experienced a reduction in income or other financial hardship; is at risk of eviction evidenced by past due notice or pending court eviction; and meets income guidelines.
Payment of up to 15 months of rent and utilities will be made directly to landlords and utility suppliers.
